Department of Applied Sciences

Introduction

The M.Sc(Physics) course was started with a vision to set a stage for designing the future of aspiring students for their success in this challenging world. To cater to the demands in the field of education, research and industry, the department provides quality education to its students. The curriculum is upgraded from time to time with an aim to provide knowledge to the students in key research areas such as Theoretical Plasma Physics, Theoretical Nuclear Physics, Nonlinear Optics, Liquid Crystals, Thin films, Chalcogenides, Nanotechnology, Nanomagnetism, Photovoltaic and Space Technologies.

The department boasts of its well qualified faculty members who have received their doctoral degrees from reputed institutes/universities.The Department has state of the art lecture halls.

This M.Sc. (Physics) Program includes various core, electives, and other interdisciplinary courses. The diverse lab experiments allow students to understand the fundamental aspects of the subject. A choice of advanced elective courses offers a glimpse in the frontier areas of research and allow students to work on one-year research project as a integral part of their M.Sc. programme. The programme also provide adequate exposure to the students for pursuing higher education in the field of technology (M. Tech.), Physics (M.Phil./Ph.D.) and other job opportunities in academia and industry.
